Our Ministries

There are many ways to connect at Saint Gabriel’s Episcopal Church and all are invited to explore the range of our various ministries. You can develop your gift for ministry and to discover forms of service that will bring you joy and bless others. We are enriched by those who join us, and we pray that we support their faith development.

Pastoral Care

From Lay Eucharistic Visitors who take Holy Communion to people in their homes, to house visits with those who are sick or lonely, pastoral care is a dynamic ministry. The Saint Gabriel’s Pastoral Care Team is made up of clergy and parish members who reach out to those in our parish who are ill, grieving, or cannot actively participate in church activities at the present time. Our clergy and lay team members visit parishioners in their homes or in hospitals and nursing homes to offer a loving presence and caring conversation through visits, phone calls, or cards. If you know of a parishioner who might be in need of a visit or support from our pastoral care team, please contact the church office.

Healing Prayer Ministry
For a decade and a half, 15 to 20 parishioners have participated in the Saint Gabriel’s Healing Prayer Ministry. This ministry, which includes individual laying-on of hands, anointing, and prayer, is conducted during the Eucharist on Sundays. Parishioners may choose to receive general blessings and prayers at the altar rail or private, individual prayers just outside the sanctuary.

Worship Ministries

These ministries support Sunday morning worship services and help us to engage all in a deeper communion with Christ together in prayer and praise. Worship ministries include ushers, lectors, prayer leaders, chalice bearers, the donation of altar flowers, and the Altar Guild. Technical help is also always welcomed, and youth are encouraged to help with the AV broadcast of the Liturgy each Sunday morning.

Feeding Ministries

Saint Gabriel’s is passionate about feeding our community both body and soul. Two of our thriving feeding ministries include Friendship Tables and Damien’s Food Pantry.  We also work in partnership with the United Neighbors, and Mobile Ministries to provide direct service helping to feed people. The need is great! We welcome your participation and support.

Fellowship Ministries

Coffee hour

Coffee hour, led by our “coffee angels,” is a popular gathering after the 10:00 a.m. service and is a wonderful way to welcome newcomers and connect with old friends. We hope that you will stop by after the service to enjoy light refreshments with others in our community. We strive to extend a warm welcome to all visitors to our church.

Local Outreach and Global Mission
At Saint Gabriel’s, one of our core values is outreach. We strive to listen to and identify spiritual and physical needs within our greater community, to build partnerships, and to translate our faith into action. We act in collaboration with other churches, faith-based organizations, and schools in order to become the hands and feet of Christ in the world. We recognize that our outreach to others benefits ourselves, too, as it helps us grow in empathy and compassion.

Saint Gabriel’s parishioners engage in a variety of local outreach and global mission ministries. The church has sent youth and adult teams to El Salvador, Ecuador, Haiti, and Puerto Rico, as well as domestic missions to Montana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. We allocate funds to a variety of local, national, and international efforts, providing support to our brothers and sisters in need of a helping hand. We have a particular interest with the local schools and children’s programs in support of our surrounding community such as sponsoring a local animal shelter and creating care packages for the military. Parishioners of all ages physically and financially support the local Habitat for Humanity.

We are eager to share the exciting work taking place here and we hope you’ll feel called to join us.
