Saint Gabriel's Church

Who We Are/ What We Believe

Saint Gabriel’s is a member of the Episcopal Church in The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts which is part of the world wide Anglican Communion. We are a Church which follows the teachings of Jesus Christ and, as part of our Anglican heritage, we trace our origins back to Christ, his disciples, and the early church.

We are a trinitarian church, and believe that God is known in the three persons of the Trinity — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost as expressed in the Apostle’s, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds. As part of our Anglican heritage we believe in the “Three Legged Stool”— Holy Scripture, Tradition, and Reason

  • Holy Scripture is the inspired living word of God which informs our prayers, preaching, and daily lives.
  • Tradition is important and celebrated through the rites and sacraments of the Church as expressed in The Book of Common Prayer
  • Reason is a God-given gift which informs one’s understandings of Holy Scripture, Tradition, and our Christian Faith.

St. Gabriel’s is committed to the Way of Love as expressed in the Episcopal Church, and we Turn, Learn, Pray, Worship, Bless, Go, and rest.  St. Gabriel’s is an affirming Parish, and proudly invites all who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community and beyond to come worship with us.

Mission Statement

Saint Gabriel’s is a community of faith celebrating and sharing Christ’s love.

Accessibility

Extending Accessibility to invite all to participate in our worship, education, services, events, and gatherings is of great importance to us. As such, the following features are in place on our grounds and in our buildings: Handicap accessible parking: There are two spaces along Front Street, one along the property, and one at the Loft school driveway. Both are van-accessible. There are two additional parallel parking spaces on South Street, directly opposite the chapel. Automatic push button doors: There are two, one along Front Street, and a second from the Courtyard, off South Street. In addition, there is a flat entrance and manual door along Front Street into the Parish Hall. Automatic doors are operational during services and can be operational at other times, on request.

Handicap Accessible Restrooms: In our Administrative Wing is a Family Restroom, which was designed with many handicap-accessible features including grab bars, automatic faucet and towels, additional seating, and baby changing area. The restrooms near the Parish Hall are similar large size facilities with grab bars. The other restrooms are more traditional, though one stall generally has grab bars. Handicap Seating: Open areas without chairs are available in the first row of the chapel, and in the last rear row of the main church where a sign indicates “wheelchair seating.” With assistance, an individual may seek aid from an usher and sit in the front row as well. Those participating in the service in the main church have the option of using the ramp to enter the altar.
