Saint Gabriel's Episcopal Church

Our Services

Saint Gabriel’s celebrates the fullness of the Church calendar throughout the year. As an Episcopal Parish, we follow the liturgical calendar, and mark the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, and Ordinary Time.

Sundays

8:00am — Rite One Holy Communion in the Chapel

8:00am (as it is called) is a traditional (Elizabethan English) Prayerbook service of word and sacrament.  Scriptural readings are drawn from both the King James’ Bible and the beloved Coverdale Psalter. Many anglophiles and Prayerbook enthusiasts will feel very comfortable at this service.

10:00am — Rite Two Holy Communion in the Church

This is a more contemporary worship service drawn from the Prayerbook and other supplemental texts from the Episcopal Church and the global Anglican Communion. This service is complimented by a full choir. The first Sunday of each month is “Family Worship” which means Church school does not meet, and children take on a more active role in the liturgy.

Wednesdays

12:00Noon —  Midday Meditations

This very simple 30 minute prayer service takes place in the chapel, and is an intentional time of centering, contemplation, and quiet. Prayers are drawn from Daily Prayer for All Seasons.

6:00pm —  Rooted

This 45-minute contemporary Anglican worship experience takes place in the church. Music is drawn from both modern Christian music and beloved hymns. The theme of this service is listening for God, and visitors will discover a candlelit calming atmosphere of poetry, story, and silence.

We offer our 10am Sunday service via live stream (see link below) and also telecast on ORC TV in the towns of Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester. We hope you can join us either in-person or live stream.

Regathering Guidelines

Dear People of Saint Gabriel’s Church,

The Diocese continues to update our COVID-19 guidelines. Here are the most recent guidelines for Saint Gabriel’s .
Mask wearing is optional for those who are vaccinated.

Coffee Hour will resume on May 8th and will be held outside, weather permitting.

Holy Communion may be distributed in both kinds.

Physical distancing Capacity limits on church services and events are lifted. We will maintain an area in each sanctuary where attendees can maintain a physical distance of 6 feet if needed.
We will continue to clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces after each service.

As you are all very much aware by now, a pandemic is an ever changing thing, and I continue to keep on top of the guidance given from the Diocese and the CDC. I want to make sure that the parishioners of Saint Gabriel’s can continue to worship God in the beauty of holiness inside the buildings that are so meaningful to each of us.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
God bless each of you.
Father Eric+
