Saint Gabriel's Episcopal Church

Ministries

Altar Guild

Altar Guild volunteers prepare the sanctuary and care for the sacred vessels and linens, ensuring that worship spaces reflect beauty and reverence.

Altar Flower Guild

The Altar Flower Guild has a long history at Saint Gabriel’s of providing fresh flowers or greenery for our services through donations. The altar flowers for our chapel and our church are donated weekly by parishioners in memory of loved ones or in thanksgiving. Many families who donate flowers have done so for years and years and it has become a family tradition.

Prayer Shawl & Knitting Group

Members of this ministry create handmade items as tangible expressions of care, offering comfort to those facing illness, loss, or life transitions.

Healing Prayer

The Healing Prayer Ministry offers prayer, comfort, and spiritual support for those in need of healing in body, mind, or spirit.

Mt. Hope/Buzzards Bay Deanery & Convention Delegates

Saint Gabriel parishioners are elected to serve as delegates to the Mount Hope – Buzzards Bay Deanery and convention.

Outreach

Parishioners of all ages are encouraged to participate, often serving side by side, whether through service, donations, or advocacy. Outreach is not only something we do; it is part of who we are.

  • Damien’s Food Pantry

Each month, parishioners volunteer to serve those experiencing food insecurity in the wider community.

  • Local and Global Mission Work

Youth and adult mission teams have served both domestically and internationally, building relationships and offering support to communities in need.

  • Community Partnerships

Saint Gabriel’s parishioners actively collaborate with local schools, organizations, and outreach initiatives, with a particular focus on supporting children and families.

Buildings & Grounds

Numerous facility infrastructure improvement and maintenance projects have been fully funded by off-budget capital campaigns. These include solar panels that have reduced our electrical expense by approximately 72%, installation of five new stained glass windows in the main church, complete renovation of our courtyard and approaches to the church with granite walkways and curbing, replacement and/or refurbishment of the clapboard siding throughout the church buildings, and a chapel bell tower overhaul. The security and fire alarm systems are presently being upgraded.

Ushers, Lectors, Chalice Bearers, & Acolytes

  • Ushers

Saint Gabriel’s ushers offer a warm welcome, assist parishioners, and help ensure a safe and smooth worship experience.

  • Lectors & Chalice Bearers

Lectors and chalice bearers contribute to the dignity and flow of the liturgy through scripture reading and eucharistic service.

  • Acolytes

Our acolytes provide a growing ministry that offers young people an opportunity to participate in and deepen their understanding of worship.
