Due to the generosity of St. Gabriel’s parish, the Mission and Outreach Committee was able to disburse over $9,000 in support for local, regional and international outreach organizations in 2025. The committee is pleased to report that we continued our efforts during the year, meeting on seven occasions. The group has worked diligently to identify and address areas of urgent concern in our community and in the world over the course of the year.
In 2025, supported organizations included My Brother’s Keeper of Dartmouth, Damien’s Food Pantry, Mobile Ministries, Turning Point of Wareham, Gifts to Give in Acushnet, the Interchurch Council of Greater New Bedford, the Grace Church New Bedford Diaper Pantry, Turning Point Walk for the Homeless, the Rise Against Hunger event at St. Gabriels, and emergency support for two parishioners. In addition, disaster recovery funds went to the Diocese of LA for LA fire recovery and to St. Peters, Kerrville after the devastating Texas floods.
Extra collections around the parish have included clothing and food for local food pantries, Gifts to Give in New Bedford, Mobile Ministries of New Bedford, backpacks and school supplies to New Bedford schools, gift cards to United Neighbors of Fall River and to the local school nurse for disbursement to students in need, and support for the St. Gabriel’s Youth Program, including the youth service trip and the Great Pie Challenge.
The St. Gabriel’s Mission and Outreach Committee currently meets approximately once a month after the 10:00 service. We are always looking for new members, and we invite you to join us in reaching out to those who need our partnership and support in our communities and beyond.
