What We Believe
Saint Gabriel’s is a member of the Episcopal Church in The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts which is part of the world wide Anglican Communion. We are a Church which follows the teachings of Jesus Christ and, as part of our Anglican heritage, we trace our origins back to Christ, his disciples, and the early church.
We are a trinitarian church, and believe that God is known in the three persons of the Trinity — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost as expressed in the Apostle’s, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds.
As part of our Anglican heritage we believe in the “Three Legged Stool”— Holy Scripture, Tradition, and Reason
- Holy Scripture is the inspired living word of God which informs our prayers, preaching, and daily lives.
- Tradition is important and celebrated through the rites and sacraments of the Church as expressed in The Book of Common Prayer.
- Reason is a God-given gift which informs one’s understandings of Holy Scripture, Tradition, and our Christian Faith.
St. Gabriel’s is committed to the Way of Love as expressed in the Episcopal Church, and we Turn, Learn, Pray, Worship, Bless, Go, and rest. St. Gabriel’s is an affirming Parish, and proudly invites all who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community and beyond to come worship with us.
